Just Make It Stop

Oh, God - Just Make It Stop!
This country has gone absolutely insane.

Celebrities
If you live in the United States of Self-Indulgent Consumption, you know who the first two women are - but what about the third?

Meet Marine Corporal Jennifer Parcell, 20, of Bel Air, Maryland. She was killed Wednesday, February 7, 2007 while supporting combat operations in Al Anbar province.

Jennifer Parcell
When you tire of watching the endless dog and pony show that is the media fascination with the first two husks of humanity, jump on over and check out Jennifer's MySpace account, and read her brief and largely unnoticed obituary.

That some bubble-headed, drug-addled, bleach blond, Monroe wanna-be would absolutely dominate the airwaves for weeks on end is an acerbic indictment of not only the media, but the idiots who line up to feed from this pablum. It is a minor shame that Smith's life was a virtual train-wreck, but it was self-induced for the most part. There are many honorable, learned people who are far more deserving of the non-stop media attention than this plastic-age strumpet who possessed the IQ of an artichoke. I have mentioned but one of them this article.

Now don't you feel so much better? Don't forget to go shopping.
I.. Just.. Can't... Take... It... Anymore...

I agree, this coverage had been insane. First people fight over a dead woman's body and now they are fighting over the dead woman's child. This is news? No, not to anyone but those involved.

We know more about Nicole Smith than we do about any single soldier in Iraq. How sad is that?

Hey, Patricia, long time, no see. Where you been old girl?

Thanks for the h/t, Greg. I, too, think that Parcell was given short shrift. That's why I'd written about her not once but twice.

Wow! You really have a talent for illuminating the real issue. You are a photo-journalist of our time. Thank you ! From the bottom of my American heart.
This regime does anything for a smokescreen. They were not even covering the war locally until I raised hell. They definitely did not show any pictures of coffins until a very popular local young man died and his family built a memorial in the right of way. THEN, the FDOT took it down just before the campaign to get the GOP convention here. Of course, it was an "accident" ... suddenly it was discovered to be a road hazard although people had been driving by, visiting it and adding to it for MONTHS. This worked against them because we were able to get alot of media attention on that.
Well, enough from me. Thanks for this; it's perfect.
If Jennifer's family finds their way here, I would like to express my sorrow for their loss.
